Published 4 times a year, the Royal BC Museums members only magazine highlighted current museum news and activities. In an effort to drive membership sales, annual subscriptions were provided as a value add to people who join. Each issue features insider information on current museum exhibitions and events that is only available to members.
As the sole designer responsible for the creation of each magazine, it was necessary to apply a diverse range of skills to complete each one. New layouts were created for each page that were original but also maintained a consistent feel that was present in all issues. Accessibility and readability were at the forefront of consideration when implementing the on brand typography throughout. A skilled eye was required to review libraries of potential photos and select ones that conveyed each articles message, but also created dynamic layouts that were pleasurable to look at.
Working in collaboration with a large team of project coordinations, writers, photographers and copy editors; content was finessed to determine the final pagination of each issue. Completing photo updates, copy edits and layout changes were all my standard challenges to overcome in the steps to achieving sign off. Each page was scrutinized during the pre-press check by myself to ensure colour accuracy and that the document was free from resolution or alignment issues.
